Join us for another installment in our ongoing Bible study series through the book of Ezekiel! In “Ezekiel 38-39 – Russia! Russia! Russia?”, we delve into one of the most discussed and debated Bible prophecies concerning the end times: the mysterious invasion of Israel. This deep dive is designed for Bible students, those interested in Christianity, and anyone seeking to understand Bible prophecy in greater detail.

Many speculate about the identity of the nations and the timing of the events described in Ezekiel 38-39. With the current global climate, especially the “drone war” and even surprising military tactics like Russia utilizing horses, some might jump to conclusions. However, as we examine the text, we will see that identifying “Rosh,” “Meshech,” and “Tubal” with modern-day Russia and its cities, while popular, relies heavily on pronunciation and lacks strong historical and linguistic support. We seek to approach this Bible study with careful consideration, acknowledging the complexities and avoiding dogmatic interpretations, as even respected scholars like Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum highlight the difficulty of these passages.

Our aim is to un-dogmatically explore the indications within Ezekiel 38-39 that suggest this conflict may align with events at the very end of the Millennial Kingdom, just before the New Heaven and New Earth. We will carefully read and discuss verses 1-6, identifying the possible locations of “Magog,” “Persia,” “Ethiopia,” “Libya,” “Gomer,” and “Togarmah,” and why connecting “Rosh” to Russia is more speculative than some assume.

Beyond the geographical and timing debates, this sermon and Bible study will also take a devotional pause to consider the powerful concept of God putting “hooks in the jaws” of invaders, drawing them to Israel for His glory. We’ll draw parallels to the story of Job and Satan, revealing how God uses seemingly adverse situations to showcase His faithfulness through His servants. This section offers a moment of inspiration for those grappling with burdens, reminding us that even in difficult circumstances, God is at work.

We will then return to the text, examining Ezekiel 38:7-12, where Israel is depicted dwelling safely in “unwalled villages” during “latter years,” having been “brought back from many people.” This peaceful setting, which goes beyond modern defense systems like the Iron Dome, strongly suggests a post-Tribulation, Millennium context. We’ll also consider Ezekiel 38:13-23, noting the global scale of God’s judgment and the “era-ending” effects described.

A crucial point of discussion will be Ezekiel 39:9-10, which describes the burning of ancient weapons like “bows and arrows” for seven years. This seemingly anachronistic detail, often ridiculed by critics, may in fact be key to understanding the “when” of this prophecy. We will contrast this with the prophecy in Isaiah about beating swords into plowshares (Isaiah 2:4) and Joel’s description of beating plowshares into swords (Joel 3:10), offering insights into the type of weaponry present at this future time.

Finally, we will connect Ezekiel 38-39 with Revelation chapter 20, where John also speaks of “Gog and Magog” being released at the end of the Millennium for a final battle. We’ll explore how these two accounts, from different biblical authors, may describe the same event from different perspectives, supporting a literal interpretation. Welcome to Prophecy Updates #826, our ongoing series where we prayerfully examine current world events through the lens of Bible prophecy. In this session, “Home (Almost) Alone,” we delve into a critical sign of the Last Days: the alarming global rise of antisemitism. As Bible students and those interested in Christianity and the end times, we seek to understand these trends in light of God’s Word.

Jesus himself warned that His followers would be “hated by all nations” for His name’s sake, and Zechariah 12:3 speaks of Jerusalem becoming a “heavy stone for all peoples.” These Bible prophecies paint a clear picture of escalating hatred towards the Jewish people. In this Bible study, we humbly present recent statistical conclusions that underscore this reality. Reports from May 2025 reveal a staggering 340% to 450% increase in anti-Semitic incidents worldwide in 2024, with significant surges in the UK, France, Australia, Canada, and Germany. The ADL also highlights the normalization of antisemitism through anti-Israel rhetoric and Holocaust denial. In the U.S., ADL data shows a 360-477% increase in incidents post-October 2023, particularly impacting college campuses, leading to a decline in personal safety for many Jews. These statistics, while sobering, affirm the accuracy of Bible prophecy.

We also consider the miraculous re-gathering of the Jewish people to the Holy Land in 1948, a clear fulfillment of numerous specific prophecies. This event sets the stage for future end times events, including the Great Tribulation, also known as the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble,” which will focus on Israel’s ultimate salvation at Jesus’ Second Coming.

A key aspect of our Bible study focuses on the resurrection and rapture of the church. We hold to the belief that this is an imminent event, meaning no further prophecies need to be fulfilled before it can occur. While the Great Tribulation is a future event designed for Israel’s salvation, Revelation 3:10 provides comfort that the church will be kept out of this intense period.

As we consider these prophecy updates and end times signs, a vital question emerges for all Christians and those exploring Bible prophecy: “Are you ready for the Rapture?” We encourage you to seek readiness, remain watchful, and keep looking up. Psalm 67 – Bless Testing: Understanding God’s Blessing in Christian Living

Join us as we continue our Bible study series through the Psalms, diving into Psalm 67, often called the Lord’s Prayer of the Old Testament. But what does true biblical blessing really mean, and how does it align with God’s will for our lives and for the world?

Many of us pray for God to bless our families, our work, our daily lives. From the story of Jacob wrestling with God in Genesis to the priestly blessing in Numbers 6:22-27, God’s people have always sought His favor and intervention. Even in the Lord’s Prayer taught by Jesus in the New Testament, we see a longing for God’s provision and guidance, though the word “bless” isn’t explicitly used. This Christian sermon examines how our understanding of blessing might differ from God’s divine intentions.

We often define blessing as the granting of our desires or the easing of our circumstances. However, as we unpack Psalm 67, we discover that God’s blessing is not merely about receiving tangible provisions, but primarily about His presence and His present work in our lives. Finally, we conclude with the glorious future promise of Israel’s restoration, a prophecy that ultimately points towards the certainty of the Millennial Kingdom under the reign of Jesus Christ.

Drawing parallels to Loki’s boast in the face of the Hulk, we consider the Prince of Tyre’s “puny god” delusion. We analyze verses 1-10, exploring Ethbaal’s hubris in claiming divine status amidst his maritime power, perhaps even likening himself to Poseidon or Triton. We contrast his arrogance with the wisdom and faithfulness of Daniel, a captive who served God even in a hostile environment. Just as Paul turned his Roman imprisonment into a powerful ministry, Daniel’s captivity was within the Lord’s hands.

The temptation of becoming “like God,” the very lie from the Garden of Eden, continues to plague humanity. While we may not overtly seek worship, unbelievers often live as the ultimate authority in their own lives. Even believers can fall into this trap when worldly desires take precedence over Jesus.

We explore the significance of “the mountain of God” and its potential connection to Mount Hermon, the site where rebellious angels, according to Enoch, descended and interacted with humanity, leading to the Nephilim. This location, near Caesarea-Philippi, was even referred to by some Hebrews as “The Gates of Hell,” adding profound context to Jesus’ declaration that these gates would not prevail against His church.

The fall of this glorious cherub, driven by pride in his beauty, led to his banishment from God’s presence. We connect this account with Isaiah 14, noting how both prophets speak of this event, one as future and the other as past, highlighting God’s eternal perspective.

Expanding on Angelology, we touch upon Deuteronomy 32:8-9 (as interpreted by the Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint), which speaks of God disinheriting the nations at Babel and assigning them to “Sons of God,” angelic beings. We mention the Prince of Persia and the Prince of Greece from the book of Daniel, suggesting a spiritual battleground behind earthly powers, with Michael as the protector of Israel.

Finally, we examine the prophecy against Sidon (Ezekiel 28:20-24), a nation marked by its contempt for Israel, and the beautiful promise of Israel’s restoration and security in the Millennial Kingdom (Ezekiel 28:25-26), a tangible, thousand-year reign of Christ following the Great Tribulation.

Just as the Mind Flayer battles for minds in the Upside Down, the true battle in our world is for our minds. We conclude by referencing 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, urging believers to stand firm in the armor of God against the lies of the enemy, the same lie of self-deification that began in Eden. Prophecy Update #816 – Trump & Temple

February 23, 2025

Prime Minister of Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, recently called President Trump the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House. In his first term, President Trump did something amazing for Israel. He moved their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

There is a great deal of speculation that Jews in Jerusalem will take advantage of the Trump presidency in order to get the Temple built.

Those around Trump would like to see the Temple built. Speaking at an event in Jerusalem in 2018, now Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said there was “no reason why the miracle of re-establishing the Temple on the Temple Mount isn’t possible,” using the Israeli name for the raised plateau in occupied East Jerusalem where Al-Aqsa Mosque stands.

He also told attendees that Israel should take advantage of Trump being in office to do what they needed to do in the region, because there were “true believers” in Washington who would back them.

Right now it remains speculation. We are simply pointing-out that this is exactly what you would expect to read about in the news if you are familiar with the Bible and its prophecies.

Ezekiel 20:45-49 – I’ve Seen Fire & I’ve Seen Pain

The LORD describes His discipline of Judah and Jerusalem as a fire that will consume everything in its path.

Ezekiel was God’s 6th century prophet to the Judean Jews exiled in Babylon. A remarkable number of his prophecies were presented as silent theatrical dramas. When he did speak, Ezekiel frequently did so utilizing riddles, allegories, and metaphors. So much so that Ezekiel could say (in verse 49), “Ah, Lord GOD! They say of me, ‘Does he not speak parables?’ ”

Ezekiel describes the third and final siege of Jerusalem by the Babylonians as if it were a catastrophic forest fire.

Prophecy Update #794 – This Mount Is My Mount

July 28, 2024

None of the major news outlets understand the true cause of the fighting in Israel that began with the October 7 attack by Hamas.

In May of 2021 Hamas launched rockets in retaliation for Israeli security forces entering the Al Aqsa Mosque after Palestinians threw stones and other objects at them. Hamas opposes any changes to the status quo at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

The current war was started by Hamas in response to the arrival of the red heifers. These exceedingly rare animals are needed to establish worship on the Temple Mount. In January, 2024, a Hamas spokesman specifically identified the red heifers as proof Israel would soon try to destroy the Mosque & other Islamic buildings.

Prophecy Update #792 – Before Your Very Eyes

One day the Holy Land was under British control. The next day, Israel was a sovereign nation.

Over 2,800 years ago, the prophet Ezekiel spoke these words about Israel:

“I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land” (36:24).

The first part of that was fulfilled on May 14, 1948. Isaiah made this wild claim: “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children” (66:8).

Isaiah 63:7-64:12 – One ClayNation, Under God, Impressionable

Isaiah illustrates God’s involvement with nations as a potter working with impressionable clay.

Certain aggressive but disturbing theologies teach that the Master Potter makes some ‘people-pottery’ that will definitely be saved, AND He makes some ‘people-pottery’ that cannot be saved. If you object to that awful depiction of God, they will look at you with their cold, steely eyes and say three words they believe will render you subdued and compliant: “God is sovereign.”

Of course God is sovereign! His sovereignty doesn’t mean God can behave in ways that are contrary to His nature. If something would be immoral for us to do, how much more terrible if God does it?

That approach to sovereignty reminds me of the famous Richard Nixon quote, “When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.”

Prophecy Update #756 – The G

We are rushing headlong into the tyrannical one-world predicted in the Bible. If polls are correct, most of the people in the world favor it.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has determined that we have fewer than 10 years to reduce global emissions by half to avoid the worst impacts of catastrophic climate change. To tackle this urgent need, they say we must align food policy with climate policy and drastically reduce the amount of meat and dairy produced. This is especially true for countries with high consumption, like the United States. Cutting 90% of beef consumption and replacing 50% of other animal-based foods with plant-based foods in the United States would save more than 2 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions from being released into our atmosphere by 2030.
